For the sake of our kids, easter is not cancelled - now taking orders for easter chocs!

Becca Crawford

I am trying hard to keep some semblance of stability, routine and fun for my children.  Despite the global pandemic surrounding us, I do not want to deprive our children of the joy and delight of Easter chocolates too (they already have enough to contend with) so we are forging ahead with our annual nutrient-dense Easter chocolate offerings…for the sake of our kids.

AS USUAL, WE HAVE 2 FABULOUS OFFERINGS THIS EASTER!
BOTH ARE AVAILABLE NOW UNTIL STOCKS LASt

1) ORGANIC YUMMY BUNNY

These little fellows are made of our artisan organic solid raw dark chocolate and retail for $22.50 (cheaper than the Lindt ones I saw in Woollies!). Perfect for all the yummy mummies, delicious daddies and little bunnies out there….these will get your bunny tails shaking!

2) MINI SOKOLATA DELIGHTS

These delightful little half eggs are the perfect mouth-sized treat. Each egg is decorated with either a goji berry, an activated almond or activated cinnamon buckwheat. You can pop them into some hard plastic egg-shaped containers from $2 shops for those treasured Easter egg hunts.

They are retailing for $16/100g bag and each bag has a mixture of the 3 flavours.

THE INGREDIENTS THAT GO INTO OUR ARTISAN CHOCOLATE:

Our artisan chocolate is made with the following highest quality 3 ingredients:

  • Certified organic raw cacao powder

  • Certified organic raw cacao butter

  • Mineral rich pure Canadian maple syrup

To create our Easter range, I took our original Sokolata recipe and tweaked it to make it more kid-friendly for younger palates by increasing the raw cacao butter content and decreasing the raw cacao powder content.

Because it is less bitter, we reduced the amount of maple syrup as less sweetener is needed when there is less raw cacao powder. Commercial manufacturers increase the amount of sweetener for kids’ chocolates but we did the exact opposite as we know how unnecessary and damaging an excess of sweeteners are, especially for young growing bodies. The result is a silky smooth melt-in-your-mouth buttery sensation with a hint of raw dark chocolate. We trialled these on the harshest of critics (kids!) and got the big thumbs up!

To read about the nutritional benefits of raw cacao powder and what’s in commercially-produced chocolate that you might want to steer clear of (such as soy lecithins, refined sweetens, agave syrup, preservatives, milk powders), read one of my earlier newsletters here.

If these Easter chocolates don’t take your fancy, there’s always our sokolata (raw dark chocolate slabs…choose from 4 different flavours) or our raw cacao coconut balls (sweetened with whole medjool dates).

How to purchase:

Our Easter chocolates will be hitting our shelves by this Friday 27 March 2020!

There are 3 ways to purchase:

Healthy Homes / Healthy Swaps workshops - make 2020 the year of conscious consumption!

Becca Crawford

It has become more important than ever in the history of mankind that we become conscious consumers and start considering the impact of our choices on our health and that of the planet’s.  My mother’s recent passing from Alzheimer’s (which is not only preventable but also reversible if caught early enough) and the devastating fires currently sweeping my beloved country, are constant reminders of the fragility of life if we don’t tend and nurture it. It is the height of human arrogance to think that we can disregard ancestral wisdom that served us for millennia with no consequence.

We no longer have the luxury of burying our heads in the sand and expecting change. If we want to live in a less toxic, more nourishing world WE (each of us at the grassroots level) need to be instigators of that change!

Don’t put it off. We can’t afford to any more. Let 2020 be the year when:

  • you start getting really curious about what you are REALLY putting in and on your body and where it’s ending up.

  • you start kicking the toxins that are slowly poisoning us and the planet that are found in not only our food products but also in our personal care products and cleaning products (sadly just because it’s allowed to be sold doesn’t make it safe!).

  • you start buying from companies who are stewards of the planet.

  • you start healthy swapping and making more nourishing choices for you and your family. Because we ALWAYS have a choice. And I’m here to help you navigate those choices and to inspire and empower you to do so in a positive way without the overwhelm. One baby step at a time.

Never underestimate how small changes can make a big impact on you, those who you care most about and the planet. It’s the small things we do each and every day that add up over time so that over the course of the forthcoming year you’ll look back and see just how far you’ve come. If you want to do “your bit” start with your home!

While I started my journey into leading a more conscious life with the food I was eating and kicking all the dietary toxins, I quickly came to the sobering realisation that we can not stop our health journey with nutrition. In addition to kicking dietary toxins, we also need to kick the environmental toxins that we can control. Shockingly, our greatest exposure to environmental toxicity is in our very own home! So being fastidious about what you eat but not paying heed to the slew of toxic ingredients found in conventional personal care products, cleaning products, make up, perfumes and pharmaceuticals makes no sense to me. In fact, what we put on our skin and breathe into our lungs is just as, if not more, important than the food we eat as our skin and lungs have no digestive filters! Hence my Healthy Homes/Healthy Swaps/Essential Oils workshops started many years ago to plug that gap and to help people in my community make simple, easy, healthy swaps in a very positive and empowering way to products that are all natural, non toxic, cost effective and super powerful.

My next Healthy Homes/Healthy Swaps/Essential Oils workshop (and the first one of the year) is February 25. Click here to learn more or to book. Bring a friend. Create a ripple effect. The more people who kick the toxins in their home, the happier and healthier our planet and its inhabitants will be. If you’ve already been, come again. Learn more. Bring more friends. Help me on my mission – we are all part of it. I’d really love to see you there.

VALENTINE'S DAY 2020: WHEN LOVE BITES (AGAIN)

Becca Crawford

IMG_6865 (1).JPG

I express my love in many ways but one of the ways I instinctively express my love is through the creation of beautiful nourishing food made for those I care about…

To celebrate the International Day of Love we are offering our special raw cacao + rose petal LOVE BITES. These balls were so well received last year that we are rolling them out again this year (no pun intended). We formulated them by taking our signature raw cacao bliss balls and rolling them in organic rose petals for a decadent and sensual finish… and re-birthed them as LOVE BITES.

Sold individually or in packs of 6, these are handmade on site at Broth Bar & Larder, using certified organic ingredients.

Share a packet with your lover, your children (who are my greatest loves!), gift to a special person or indulge as a special gift to yourself! While Valentine’s Day might traditionally be a celebration of romantic love, I like to draw a broader bow and see it as a celebration of love in all its guises.

I hope they make your and your love one’s heart sing as much as my team and I have loved crafting them for you.

HOW TO PURCHASE:

These limited edition Valentine’s Day Love Bites can be purchased:

1. Via our online store (for Sydney and Wollongong residents) OR
2. In store from Broth Bar & Larder in Bronte and best to pre-order by calling 0421 786 009 OR
3. Email orders@staraniseorganic.com with your contact deets and we will take care of everything for you.

We have only made a limited amount and will not be making more when these sell out so please get in fast or pre-order to avoid disappointment.  Pre-order ends online Feb 13.

I hope your Valentine’s day is infused with bites of love...and remember that whatever we do, and why we do it, all comes back to love. To either feel loved or gift love.
