The best tool we have to boost our immune system and to protect us from illness, viruses and disease….

Becca Crawford

The best tool we have to boost our immune system and to protect us from illness, viruses and disease already exists in nature – real food!

As Dr Mark Hyman recently said in an interview with Robert F Kennedy Jr “Food isn’t like medicine. Food is medicine! It is our number one tool for creating the vibrant health we deserve! Every system of your biology is regulated by what you’re eating.”

Indeed, every system, structure and function of the human body is built from and runs on one thing and one thing only and that is nutrients! From our immune system, digestive system, osteo skeletal system, endocrine system, nervous system, brain health, skin health – the whole kit and caboodle-  is regulated or influenced by the presence or absence of nutrients! Nutrients are what causes our genes to express themselves (switch on and off) for better or for worse. So the more nutrient-dense our food, the more robust our immune system and other systems of the body will be.

Everything I have argued and stood for over the past 2 decades has poignantly  crystallised at this strange moment of history that we find ourselves in.

The best medicine is, and always been, a real nutrient-rich whole unprocessed diet especially when combined with the other pillars or foundations of health (pure water, deep sleep, conscious movement, positive mindset, clear air, social connection, and nature immersion). That there, my friends, is the combined elixir to robust health and a healthy planet. The most powerful tools we have to boost our immune system and to achieve vibrant health already exist in the natural world!! They are not found in pharmaceuticals or quick fix unsustainable diets. But we humans can’t help but to undermine the sanctity of our wise biology and the natural world by intervening, meddling, and destroying what is already perfect or has the capability of being spectacular. The human body and the natural world are truly magnificent. Our internal and external ecosystems are far more sophisticated, complex and intelligent than what we give them credit for. They know exactly what to do to regenerate, thrive and flourish if we just get out of the way and simply provide the necessary inputs – nourishment in all its forms - that support (and not undermine) our biology and all life on the planet.

We are indeed at the threshold of a massive paradigm shift in human consciousness. Right now, I am so excited for what the future holds. More and more people are waking up to the realisation that we already have what is needed for the most magnificent regeneration of ourselves and the planet. And that is a beautiful thing.

Hungry for more? Join me at my next Food as Medicine talk 1 August 2020 via zoom webinar where we were immerse ourselves in this topic for a full day (9-3pm) and give you all the tools, resources and practical know-how to put it all into place. Places limited to 50 people. Each talk over the past 2 years has sold out. I co-present with Australia’s leading holistic dietician and GAPS practitioner Marieke Rodenstein whose expertise is gut health and is a passionate advocate of regenerating farming and traditional food.

TESTIMONAILS

Firstly, let me start by saying thank you from the very bottom of my heart - I sat in on your Food As Medicine webinar last Saturday and since then have watched your Broth cooking workshop and made my very first beef bone broth EVER!!! I can’t believe how far I have come - I remember as a child my mum eating the marrow of the bone and making stock all the time with fish bones, and beef when I was growing up. Although as I grew older into my early 20’s I started eating very poorly and became obsessed with the gym - I over exercised, I took a lot of exercise supplements like protein powders and pre work out every single DAY for about 4 years. I only ate salads and was “scared of fat and carbs” and have suffered extremely low iron levels for about 7 years now, to the point I was borderline anaemic. I BARELY ate any red meat. And it’s funny because I really thought I was eating healthy. But now, 26 years old, I realise how un-healthy I really was and it honestly makes me want to cry just thinking now how much I depleted my body of nutrients. I truly believe because of all my mistakes and really just me being uneducated and stubborn in my ways, I have grown to live with anxiety and I find myself complaining about my legs hurting, or my back, or my discomfort I feel in my left lung/heart area. I have no idea what it is but I truly think it is linked to my anxiety and probably because I just didn’t give my body the essential nutrients I needed whilst I was still growing into a young adult.

As I write this to you, I truly hope I can change my health and life around - and you have really inspired me. When you said you lived a vegetarian diet for so many years (I have found I was eating a 90% vegetarian diet too for the last 2 years) and how you changed your life and your health around. You are what I inspire to be!!!! I hope it’s not too late for me too and I am taking notes down all the time when you post something on Instagram and what foods to try. I can’t believe that yesterday I ATE THE MARROW OF THE BONE !!! I have NEVER eaten this before and always thought it was DISGUSTING when my mum would eat it. Now look at me! I will be making that dessert you incorporate the marrow in to make it just a little easier for me haha 🙂

Soulla, truly, I just want to thank you. I have been following you on social media for a while now and I am SO glad that I found you and that I committed to sitting in on your webinar last Saturday. If I could quit my full-time job and have no bills or mortgage to pay off, I would work for you for free at Broth Bar & Larder JUST so I can be surrounded by your beliefs, energy and wisdom!!!! 🙂 Again, I want to say a big thank you to you for existing on this earth! I feel especially fortunate that I only live an hour away from Broth Bar & Larder knowing I have all the access to your nutrient dense foods 🙂 I cannot wait to feel the best I have ever felt in my body and my health and that’s thanks to you

Thank you so much for the most amazingly inspirational workshop yesterday. You have done so much work over the years in this area and you are so incredibly generous to share it all. I found your workshop to be the best one I have ever attended of all wellness workshops, you are so passionate, knowledgeable and a natural educator. I would do this workshop again - I loved it that much! Thank you

Thank you for such an insightful and interesting day full of knowledge, wisdom, interesting and useful content, and for cutting through the ‘fat’ (literally) of how we can take control and give our health the ‘rolls royce treatment’ it deserves. As a mum with a young family, i left today feeling invigorated and confident. I loved how you de-bunked the modern era and took us back to grass roots (whilst still being evidence base and backing up your facts with relevant and credible studies) This was lifechanging for me - thank you for empowering me to make subtle changes to improve my health and the health of my family. Absolutely amazing and informative. So worthwhile and I have so much more confidence now as a Mumma
